Skin surgery
Skin lesions may be removed using a minor surgical procedure which is carried out at your comfort and convenience in our facility using local anaesthetic to carefully numb the area of skin.
Before the procedure
During your consultation the procedure will be fully discussed and you will have the opportunity to ask questions. Sometimes a diagnostic "biopsy" (a small sample) is recommended to confirm the diagnosis before fully removing a lesion.
What to expect
The procedure is carried out in the clinic after a small numbing injection. Most people feel no discomfort during the procedure.
The wound is covered with a dressing to keep it clean and minimise risk of wound infection. Simple wound care instructions will be given to you after surgery to help ensure the best possible healing. Usually external stitches are removed at the clinic after 7-14 days.
